How to use this tool

Step by step, what happens

1. The tool scans the text from left to right and looks for mention patterns that start with @.
2. It identifies usernames attached to those mentions and ignores the rest of the text.
3. It collects each match and prepares the results in a clean list.
4. You review the output and copy the mentions you need.

Worked example

Here is a simple post with a few tagged accounts and some extra text mixed in.

Input: Thanks @alex for the help, and shoutout to @jane_doe and @SupportTeam!

1. The extractor reads the full sentence and finds each token that begins with @.
2. It keeps the usernames alex, jane_doe, and SupportTeam as separate mentions.
3. It leaves out the rest of the words because they are not mentions.

Tips and common mistakes

• Keep the text as plain text so the extractor can see the actual @ symbols and usernames.
• If your source includes email addresses, check the results carefully since those are not social mentions.
• Use the output as a starting list, then review it if your platform allows punctuation like commas or periods after a mention.
• If you are processing a long thread, paste the full text at once so you do not miss mentions split across messages.
